The GSG has held an Annual Dinner nearly every year since 1969, held in venues both in England and in Scotland (and the occasional foray into Wales). Guest speakers were invited from kindred clubs from 1971 until 1980 when the practice was discontinued (except for the 25th anniversary dinner in 1986 when Hamish McInnes was the Guest Speaker). An attempt at a photographic competition was commenced at the 2011 dinner in Ullapool. It was repeated in 2012 (Durness) but then fell into abeyance until 2024 (Alston) when it was resurrected.

The Golden Gnome has been awarded since 1978 (Glencoe) for notable service to the aims and objectives of the club. Fourteen functions occurred with the Gnome winner not recorded in Newsletters or elsewhere, even though in some cases, the Ode has been preserved in club records. Resolution of these gaps would be appreciated; please email the secretary if you can fill in any of these missing entries.
